Flights to Frankfurt: Best ticket deals

Charming narrow streets, medieval buildings, cosy terraces, colourful boutiques and atmospheric bars hidden in small alleys. Frankfurt has everything to make your trip a wonderful one! Go on a city trip to this beautiful German city and be surprised by its historic charm. When most people hear about Frankfurt am Main, they think of the airport, banks, the stock exchange and skyscrapers. But the diverse metropolis in the Rhine-Main area has much more to offer and is an exciting city full of contrasts. A mix of ultra-modern skyscrapers and historic buildings, traditional cider bars, trendy restaurants, and a diverse cultural offer give Frankfurt a unique charm.

Things to see and do in Frankfurt

There’s so much to see and do in Frankfurt that a weekend might just not be enough. Admire the city’s skyline, which is especially beautiful at sunset and after dark from the banks of the Main. It is not for nothing that Frankfurt is fondly referred to as “Mainhatten” by its residents. After looking at the skyscrapers from the ground, be sure to visit the 200-meter high observation deck of the MAIN TOWER. From here you can enjoy a unique view of the city. Discover the Römer and the Römerberg in the old town of Frankfurt. The Old Town Hall and the circular square are among the city’s top attractions. Strolling is one of the things you must do in Frankfurt. Stroll through Frankfurt’s “new old town”, which was rebuilt between 2012 and 2018.

Visit the Paulskirche, which you may have heard of in history classes, as the first freely elected German parliament convened here between 1848 and 1849. Attend a musical or classical concert at the Alte Oper Frankfurt. The opera will open its doors again in September. Visit the Imperial Cathedral of St. Bartholomew, another historic site in Frankfurt. Tip: for a small entrance fee, you can climb to the viewing platform of the church tower. However, climbing the many stairs is quite tricky.

Go shopping in the Zeil, the most prominent shopping street in Germany. You should enter the MyZeil shopping centre here. In addition to a diversity of shops and a Food Court, the architecture of the building is a highlight on its own. And don’t forget to try Ebbelwoi (apple wine or cider) at any of Frankfurt’s many cider bars. Most bars can be found in the Sachsenhausen district.
